Harry Connick Jr., a soulful crooner with 15 Grammy nominations to his name, will headline a show at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in August, a spokesperson for Red Mountain Entertainment confirmed Tuesday morning.

The City of Tuscaloosa and Red Mountain continue to pack out the schedule for the Coca-Cola summer concert series at the Amp -- the new concert announcement comes just one day after news broke that Earth, Wind & Fire will take the stage there in October.

Connick will bring his seven-piece band to the Druid City on his "Time to Play!" summer tour, which promises to celebrate a return to live performance, showcase his New Orleans influence and highlight the hits of his decades-long career.

The show is set for August 27th at 8 p.m., and tickets will go on sale this Friday, June 11th, at noon on ticketmaster.com and at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater box office.

Connick joins a summer lineup that already includes ZZ Top, Lady A, Jon Pardi and Brad Paisley, and more announcements are sure to come soon -- Stacy Vaughn, the city of Tuscaloosa's Director of Public Services, said in March that her department plans to work with Red Mountain to bring more than a dozen shows to the Amphitheater before the end of the year.

"We expect and truly hope we'll have a full season with 14-18 shows from June to October," Vaughn said.
