When is Tuscaloosa's Celebration on the River?

The annual Independence Day celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026.

What Activities Will Be a Part of Celebration on the River in Tuscaloosa?

The 2026 event includes kids' activities, live music, and a fireworks display.

The City of Tuscaloosa announced the following schedule:

  • 6 – 8 p.m. Kids Zone in West and East Plazas (featuring face painting and inflatable games)
  • 6 – 7:55 p.m. DJ Tank Performance
  • 7:55 p.m. Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra performance begins, featuring patriotic selections lasting through the end of the fireworks
  • 9 p.m. Fireworks begin following brief remarks from Mayor Walt Maddox

Where Can You Park for the Tuscaloosa Celebration on the River?

Attendees are encouraged to park at the free downtown parking deck. Shuttles will be running from the deck to the amphitheater.

Due to ongoing road construction, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed from just north of 6th Street to Jack Warner Parkway near the Nicks Kids Avenue intersection.
