Tuscaloosa’s KPOT Permanently Closing Soon, May Become All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Spot
A unique Tuscaloosa restaurant that offered Korean barbeque and hot pot will soon permanently close, and there are already early discussions to replace it with an all-you-can-eat sushi concept.
Tuscaloosa's KPOT opened in the old Ryan's Buffet building on Courtney Drive off Skyland Boulevard last January, replacing a short-lived seafood concept there and giving the area its first taste of the experiential dining of Korean BBQ and hot pot.
Now, a little more than a year after they opened, KPOT manager Faye Lu tells the Thread that the restaurant will permanently close on May 4th.
"This will be the last week for KPOT in Tuscaloosa," Lu said Monday. "If anyone has still not come out to try Korean barbeque or the hot pot, we really encourage you to come have that experience before we close."

Lu said the building may not stay empty very long, though - she said the owners of the property are exploring converting the KPOT into a growing brand called Sushi-Nami, an all-you-can-eat concept specializing in the rolled Japanese treat.
She said the process of converting the store could take several months, but the new restaurant could be open as soon as late summer or early fall.
