Black History Maker of Alabama - Juanita Taggart-Jones

Black History Makers of Alabama honors Juanita Taggart-Jones for her contributions and impact to the local real estate industry.

Taggart-Jones, a Tuscaloosa native, is the owner and broker of Key Realty Company. She became a licensed REALTOR® in 2006 and has constantly adapted to Alabama’s evolving real estate market.

At the start of her career, Taggart-Jones was primarily a buyer’s agent, however, she has since been able to transition her business into a multi-tiered, full-service real estate company that works with buyers, sellers, landlords and investors, both in the private & corporate sector.

Taggart-Jones said she is very passionate about learning and always take advantage of any opportunity that will allow her to become a better REALTOR® for her clients, which lead her to obtaining several professional designations, including Real Estate Negotiation Expert, Seller Representative Specialist and Accredited Buyer Representative among others.

Over the past 16 years, she has been very active in her local & state real-estate association, where she previously served as the president of the West Alabama Multiple Listing Service and currently serves as a director for the board of the Alabama Association of Realtors.

In December 2022, she was was sworn in as the 2023 president of the Tuscaloosa Association of Realtors, making her the first African American president in the organization's 74 years of existence.

Taggart-Jones said black history is recognizing the central role of the African American community in America’s history and highlighting the importance of diversity, equality, and inclusion.

Black History Month is a uniquely different time of reflection of our Ancestor’s struggles that has continually defined our story and identity and is a part of who we are as we move forward. I strongly believe that as we climb the ladder in leadership, we ALL stand on the shoulders of someone who has paved the way for us in some way or another.
