James William Sanford age 96, of Northport, Alabama, passed away April 17, 2024 at Hospice of West Alabama.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at Carolwood Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Wright, Rev. Scott Montgomery, and Rev. Roger Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edith; and 14 siblings.

Survivors include his son, Dennis Sanford (Helene); daughter, Helen Lucas (Roger); brother, Nathan (Kathy), sister, Florine Galese (John); two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He loved his family and always provided for them. He also enjoyed having a garden and did so up until a year ago. He was saved and baptized at the age of 80 and joined the Carolwood Free Will Baptist Church where he attended until he was no longer able. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved to hunt and fish.

Pallbearers will be Scott Sanford, Jeff Sanford, Roger Sanford, Brad Townsend, Jimmy Holliman, Louis Duren, Jimmy Hallman, and Jameson Sanford.

Honorary pallbearers are Williard and Betty Christian and the church family of Carolwood Free Will Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carolwood Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
