James Daniel Huffman, known to most as Danny, completed his race and left this world at age 70 on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

He was a patient at UAB Hospital in Birmingham when he passed. A Celebration of his Life will be held at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:00 in the afternoon with visitation at 1:00.

Danny was born on March 4, 1952, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Other than a brief move to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and a cruise with the U.S. Navy around Viet Nam on the USS Newport News, Danny remained a resident of Tuscaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Cynthia Huffman, his sister Pam Huffman Ujhazy, and his brother Doug Huffman. He is survived by his son Matthew Clayton Huffman, his sister Sharan Huffman Grey (Danny), his brother-in-law Ed Ujhazy, and sister-in-law Arlene Spray Spell (David), his niece Cyndee Worrall (Dan) and his nephews Dustin McAbee, Blake Grey (Ashley), Tyler Ujhazy (Kelsey), and Chalis Huffman (Jessica). He also leaves behind his great-nieces Annabelle Worrall, Karleigh Grey, Greyson Worrall, Sawyer Grey, and Logan Ujhazy.

Danny attended Tuscaloosa City Schools and was a graduate of Livingston University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Economics and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. After graduation, he worked in sales/marketing. Of all his work experience, his favorite was a job he took after retirement during the covid pandemic at Manderson Cancer Center. Being a former patient of Manderson and a cancer survivor, Danny understood their concerns and fears. He connected with them and they with him.

Danny Huffman was a comedian, a songwriter, a poet, a storyteller, a patriot, a veteran and a friend to everyone he met. Above all these, he was a Christian, saved by the Grace of God.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a donation to the Manderson Cancer Center or the charity of your choice.
