The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama is inviting the community to support the next generation of entrepreneurs during Lemonade Day Tuscaloosa on Friday, July 17.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at the newly renovated Jaycee Park Club, located at 2201 Alberta Parkway across from the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center.

More than 80 Boys & Girls Club members in grades 3 through 5 have spent the past five weeks learning how to start, own and operate a business through the national Lemonade Day program. This year's curriculum was taught with the help of Huntington Bank, whose employees led lessons on budgeting, customer service, branding, advertising, saving, investing and teamwork.

During the event, students will operate their own lemonade stands, serve original recipes and showcase the business and communication skills they've developed throughout the program.

Organizers say the event is about more than selling lemonade. It is designed to inspire creativity, build confidence and introduce young people to entrepreneurship while helping them develop leadership and problem-solving skills.

Community members are encouraged to attend, purchase lemonade, tour the renovated Jaycee Park Club and support local youth. Guests can also purchase a VIP "Sip, Sample and Support" wristband, which includes a sample from every lemonade stand.

Businesses and individuals interested in sponsoring Lemonade Day have until Friday, July 10, to participate.

For more information, sponsorship opportunities or VIP wristbands, visit bgcwestal.org/lemonade or contact Heather Shipley at heather@bgcwestal.org or 205-553-3879.
