
Tuscaloosa NAACP To Honor Sarah Thompson at Living Legend Luncheon
The Tuscaloosa County Branch of the NAACP’s Living Legend Luncheon will be hosted on Juneteenth - Friday, June 19, at Noon at Shelton State Community College, located at 9500 Old Greensboro Road, located at 9500 Old Greensboro Road Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405.

During the luncheon, the 2026 Juneteenth Living Legend, Ms. Sarah "Sue" Thompson, will be honored as a trailblazer, advocate, and champion for justice.
Through decades of service and leadership, Thompson has championed civil rights, equal opportunity, and educational equity. Leaving a lasting impact on the community.
“Born and raised in West Tuscaloosa, graduated from The University of Alabama and Alabama Law during a time when opportunities for African Americans in the legal profession were limited,” said the press release. “In 1974, she helped establish Forte, Thompson & England, the first Black law firm in Tuscaloosa, creating a legacy that continues to inspire generations.”
As a dedicated attorney with Legal Services Alabama for decades, she advocated tirelessly for underserved communities, providing legal representation in employment discrimination matters and promoting equal justice under the law.
Thompson is honored for her unwavering commitment to public education, school desegregation, and teacher representation, which has left an indelible mark on Tuscaloosa and beyond,” said the press release.
The community is invited to celebrate Juneteenth at the Living Legend Luncheon with the Tuscaloosa County Branch of the NAACP on Friday, June 19, when they recognize Thompson as a living legend.
