Scattered Thunderstorms in Alabama Today Could Turn Severe
The Townsquare Media Weather Center is monitoring the potential for scattered thunderstorms with enough energy for severe weather.
Risk Level
Currently, the Storm Prediction Center has a portion of Alabama under a “Marginal Risk,” a level 1 out of 5 risk, with other areas under a thunderstorm risk.
Risk Areas
There are a few West Alabama Counties under the “Marginal Risk” which include:
Fayette
Lamar
Pickens
Tuscaloosa
Walker
Timeline
The overall timeframe is between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Potential Threats
Residents should be aware that the possible threats are “damaging winds up to 60 mph and large hail up to quarter size,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
Looking Ahead
“As the upper low continues to move away, most of the state will be dry tomorrow with only isolated afternoon showers over the northern and eastern counties,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist. “The weather also begins to warm up with highs in the 80s statewide.”
We will continue to monitor the potential for severe weather.
