What Does This Mean for Alabama?
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “Widespread rain will move into Mississippi and Alabama during the day Wednesday, continuing Wednesday night and Thursday.”
“For inland areas of Alabama and Mississippi, amounts for most places will be in the 1-3 inch range. The highest threat of flooding will be near the coast,” said Spann.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said our area could expect “wind gusts up to 35 mph on Thursday, mainly afternoon and evening.” Also, “the tornado threat is too low to mention at this time.”
The best bet is to stay weather-aware, as this is a developing and strengthening system. All signs suggest that this tropical storm could develop into a category 2 hurricane. - Mary K. - Weather Forecaster for Townsquare Media.
