Bull Riding Barrel Racing And Motocross At Sokol Park This Weekend

Rodeo is widely considered one of the oldest sports in America, evolving directly from the working skills of Spanish vaqueros and American cowboys in the 1800s. So saddle up cowboys and cowgirls and mosey on over to the Ray C. Jenkins Multipurpose Arena for the 18th Annual KDM Service Taylor Electrical Sokol Park Pro RODEO presented by the Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association.

The Thursday through Saturday event this week will feature traditional rodeo events like calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, bronco riding, and bull riding. There will also be a different kind of rodeo. The action-packed week will also include Cowboy Kenny’s Steel Rodeo Freestyle Motocross and bike nights presented by T-town Harley Davidson.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. each night, with main events bginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for ages 5-11, and free for kids 4 and under.

There are a number of rodeo events across Alabama each year but two of the best are right here in West Alabama The Sokol Park Rodeo and the 24th Annual Stewart-Havana Rodeo in Moundville.

Known as "Rodeo Under the Stars & Stripes," the Hale County rodeo August 21 - 22 raises funds for the Stewart-Havana Volunteer Fire Department.
