Outdoor Burning Concern: Red Flag Warning in Portions of Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Red Flag Warning for portions of Alabama from Saturday 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
A Red Flag Warning indicates the presence of either current or imminent critical fire weather conditions.
Extreme fire behavior can occur due to a combination of a “dry air mass and breezy conditions will result in critical fire weather conditions,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.
A Red Flag Warning is in place for the following

Specific information for Greene, Hale, Sumter, and Perry counties

North 10 to 15 mph.
RELATIVE HUMIDITY
As low as 23 percent.

As low as 25 percent.
OVERALL IMPACTS
The combination of a dry air mass and breezy conditions will result in critical fire weather conditions. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
Alabama Forestry Commission
Spann said “The Alabama Forestry Commission maintains a fire alert statewide; permits for outdoor burning will no longer be issued until further notice. Anyone burning a field, grassland, or woodland without a burn permit may be subject to prosecution for committing a Class B misdemeanor.”
