Alabama’s Women Of True Grit Woman Of The Month
It takes just a speck of grit inside an oyster shell to form a beautiful and valuable pearl.

This metaphor is perfect for the Women of True Grit because we all encounter those "gritty" moments of despair.
The Women of True Grit are presented by our partners, Alabama State Foundation, Alabama State Games, and People's Loan of West Alabama.
These strong women have learned to fight through it and come out on the other side, shining like beautiful pearls.
December's Woman of True Grit is Melinda Megahee.
You can reach out to Melinda or find out more about her at loveladycenter.org.
Melinda is the executive director of the Lovelady Center in Birmingham, Alabama, where she has served alongside her mother, the late Brenda Lovelady Spahn, since 2004.
With more than 29 years of business and ministry experience, Melinda combined strong leadership with a deep compassion for women rebuilding their lives through faith, across the state of Alabama.
She holds a degree in human services management, completed the Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program at Harvard Business School, and is an ordained minister.
Melinda has been recognized with the Vulcan Servant and Leadership award, named a CBS 42 Remarkable Woman, and honored as an ABC 33/40 Alabama Champion.
Melinda and her husband, Shawn, have been married for 30 years and are blessed with three children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren, with a third on the way.
Her greatest passion is helping women encounter the transforming love of Christ and step into the fullness of God’s purpose for their lives.
