The Tuscaloosa’s One Place Tinsel Trail has officially ushered in the holiday season. Government Plaza in Downtown Tuscaloosa has been decked out with over 200 trees, each decorated by local businesses and organizations.

Now, to add to the holiday excitement, Tuscaloosa’s One Place Tinsel Trail Receives Nomination for National Award. According to the press release, the beloved yearly event “has been nominated for USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards in the Best Public Holiday Lights Display category, alongside national favorites including the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.”

This award celebrates the nation’s top 10 holiday displays, chosen by public vote. TODAY, Monday, December 1, is the last day to vote, and individuals can vote once per day per device.

“This recognition allows Tuscaloosa to share our story and the community bond that makes the city so special. The Tuscaloosa’s One Place Tinsel Trail brings our community together in a meaningful way,” said Tuscaloosa’s One Place Executive Director Kevin Besnoy. “This nomination reflects the collective effort behind the event and honors everyone who helps make it possible.”

Visitors can stroll through the Tinsel Trail and take part in a variety of festive events now through January 1, 2026.
