Tuscaloosa City Schools, along with Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa and Child Abuse Prevention Services, will highlight and recognize Inspiring Excellence Student Of The Month from each of the 21 schools in the district during the 2023-2024 school year. Every month, two to three outstanding TCS students will be highlighted in this series.

Students and staff celebrated a focused and driven seventh grader at Eastwood Middle School Monday morning with a ceremony where she was recognized as their 2023-2024 Inspiring Excellence Student of the Month.

Woods said that she was surprised to receive the award, but that it felt so good to be recognized.

“It is important to me to have good leadership characteristics because I feel I can inspire other students to be good.” Woods said.

In addition to possessing strong leadership skills, Woods places a heavy emphasis on her academics and said civics was her favorite class in school.

After high school, Woods said she hopes to get involved in the real estate business.

“Being a leader means showing students an example of what they should do,” Woods said.
