A new Five Below value store is coming soon to Northport, leaders there announced Thursday afternoon.

Jeff Hogg, the president of the Northport City Council, shared the news on social media and said Five Below will open a store to replace the old Dollar General in the Hobby Lobby shopping center on McFarland Boulevard.

The area's first Five Below opened in 2018 at the Shoppes of Legacy Park in central Tuscaloosa.

The corporation operates 1,300 stores in 42 states and specializes in selling snacks and everyday goods for $5 or less - hence the name Five Below.

Hogg did not say when the new store is expected to open, but teased more information to come at a later date.
