The crash occurred on State Route 5 north of Jasper on Monday morning.

ALDOT crews were working on the shoulder, and the injured worker was actually sitting inside an ALDOT truck at the time of impact.

The truck the worker was in was rear-ended by a vehicle.

All three injured individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment.

In an interesting sidenote, this week is National Work Zone Awareness Week.

The Alabama legislature also passed a bill to establish a pilot project with cameras in work zones to photograph tags.

Citations will then be mailed to the tag's owner. The bill was controversial but passed, and Gov. Ivey signed it.
