
Two Die in Seperate Car Crashes in West Alabama
A man is dead and two others were injured in a single car crash in Perry County Saturday afternoon.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reports they are investigating the crash that happened around 3:00pm yesterday on Alabama State Route 219. The crash site is near mile marker 12 about right miles north of Valley Grande located north of Selma in Dallas County.

Law enforcment identified the victim as 68-year-old Robert L. Perkins. He was riding as a passenger in was a passenger in a 2019 Mercedes GLA 250 when it left the road, struck a culvert and overturned. Troopers report Perkins was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead on the scene by first responders.
ALEA identified the two injured as, the driver, Barbara J. Perkins, 60, and another passenger, Latonya P. Wilson, 43, both of Selma. They were transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma for treatment of their injuries. Their condition has not been released by authorities.
According to ALEA, Highway 219 was closed for some time due to the crash blocking both lanes.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
There has been one other fatal crashes in West Alabama reported this weekend. A 21-year-old woman died early this morning on Hull Road in the Walker County town of Sumiton when her vehicle left the roadway and hit a mailbox and a tree.
Elesewhere in the state, a 51-year-old Blountsville man was killed Saturday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 31 when his SUV was struck by a tractor-trailer. Three others were injured.
