The Texas Longhorns defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 34-24 on Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The Longhorns were hot from the get-go, scoring 13 points on its first three drives of the night. The first was a 32-yard field goal, the second was 44-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Quinn Ewers to wide receiver Xavier Worthy, and the third was a 29-yard field goal.

The Crimson Tide struggled on all sides of the ball in the first half.

Alabama kicker Will Richard was the star of the game for the first three-and-a-half quarters, nailing three crucial field goals, a 42-yarder, a 30-yarder, and a 51-yarder.

The Crimson Tide did not score a touchdown until late in the third quarter. Quarterback Jalen Milroe threw a 49-yard score to wide receiver Jermaine Burton to give Alabama the 16-13 lead.

However, Texas  responded by scoring 14 unanswered points to not only retake the lead, but also extend it to a two-possession game. The first possession was a quick 75-yard drive capped off by a seven-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Adonai Mitchell and the second came after the Longhorns defense picked off Milroe for the second time of the night. Running back Jonathon Brooks ran in the five-yard touchdown to make the lead 27-16.

Alabama cut into the deficit with a 39-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Amari Niblack to make it a three-point game, however Texas sealed the win on the following drive with a 39-yard touchdown throw to Mitchell.
