SEC Suspends Former Alabama Offensive Lineman
Former Alabama and current Florida offensive lineman Damieon George has been disciplined by the SEC for his involvement in the altercation at the end of the Tennessee vs. Florida game on Saturday night.
"Offensive lineman Damieon George, Jr., offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua and tight end Dante Zanders of Florida will be suspended for the first half of the Gators' game with Charlotte on Saturday in Gainesville. Defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott of Tennessee will be suspended for the first half of the Volunteers' game with UTSA on Saturday in Knoxville," wrote the SEC.
George spent three seasons at the Capstone (2020-22) before transferring to Florida this past offseason.
The fight occurred with seconds remaining in the game. Gators quarterback Graham Mertz was running the clock out and started to take a knee, then was hit by Volunteers defensive lineman Omari Thomas. The Florida offensive started pushing and shoving Thomas, which caused a fight between the two teams.
Florida won the game 29-16, handing the No. 11 ranked Tennessee its first loss of the season.
