The preseason AP Poll has been released, marking the start of the college football season. Alabama had been ranked in the top five every year since 2009 and was ranked No. 1 in seven of those 15 seasons.

The streak of top-five rankings in the AP Preseason poll continued, with Alabama being ranked No. 5 in the preseason.

Alabama finished the AP Poll ranked No. 5 following the loss to Michigan in the Rose Bowl.

The last time Alabama was ranked No. 5 to start the preseason was 2009. The Crimson Tide finished the season undefeated, with a win in the BCS National Championship.
