Big 10 Football

The roller coaster that is Big 10 football seems to have settled. The conference has decided to play its season after all, beginning on the weekend of Oct. 24. This reverses a decision made at the beginning of August to forgo a fall season.

The Big 10 reportedly will announce plans for an eight-game conference only schedule in the coming days.

Today, the Big 10 presidents met and voted in favor of cancelling the 2020 fall football season with hopes of possibly playing in the spring.

The Detroit Free Press and The Dan Patrick Show reported earlier in the day that the Big 10 held a vote to cancel its 2020 season. Dan Patrick reported that the conference voted 12-2 in favor of cancelling the season and that Nebraska and Iowa were the two dissenting schools. According to Heather Dinich of ESPN and Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic the Big 10 has not held a vote yet.

According to Dan Patrick and the Detroit Free Press, the Big 10 has voted to cancel its 2020 football season. The conference voted 12-2 to cancel this season, the only dissenting universities who voted to play were Iowa and Nebraska.

There will be no fans in Beaver Stadium in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania this year for Penn State this year, according to Brett McMurphy of Watchstadium.com. Beaver Stadium has a capacity of 106,000 and is known for a raucous atmosphere.
