Olaus Alinen Signs with the Crimson Tide
Four-star offensive lineman Olaus Alinen has officially signed his letter of intent to play college football with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Alinen, an offensive tackle from Finland, played high school football for Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut. He originally committed to Alabama in July, and chose the Tide over Ohio State, Georgia, Miami and Oregon.
According to 247Sports, Alinen is the 14th ranked offensive tackle in the class of 2023, and the top-ranked recruit in the state of Connecticut. He was also selected to play in the 2023 Under Armour All-American Game.
Listed at a towering 6-foot-6 and weighing 315 pounds, Alinen provides not only depth but size as well for an offensive line that has struggled for much of the last two seasons.
"Massive frame with slight plus length and position versatility as a right or left tackle," 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn wrote on Alinen. "Combines impressive strength and athleticism. Is forceful with initial punch and is physical. Plays aggressively and remains engaged on blocks."
Alinen made his verbal commitment to play for the Tide back in July, but quickly became a fan-favorite to Alabama fans for his recruiting pitches to other high school prospects on his Twitter account. His excitement about his commitment to playing for head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide have fans excited to get him on the field in the future.
