Developers and future tenants gathered on newly cleared land on Lake Tuscaloosa to take in the stunning views soon to be offered at the luxury condos now under construction there.

A team led by Andy Turner and Miller Mobley broke ground on the HILLHOUSE Residences between their now-modernized Northriver Yacht Club Marina and Captain’s Club store Thursday afternoon.

"The idea for all this development came from very humble beginnings," Turner said Thursday. "Basically my family and I wanted to a safe way to get our boat in the water and not fall through a dock - and that's how this whole thing started."

With the Capitan's Club now open. Turner, Mobley, Kenny Short and Joe Gillis turn their attention to the condos - 11 of which are already pre-sold, with just seven remaining for sale as of last week.

No expense will be spared, with oak floors, quartz adornments in the kitchen and bathrooms, ultra-luxe appliances, private terraces and more designed by Architect-of-Record Poole & Company Architects in Birmingham.

Tuscaloosa City Councilman Norman Crow was on site at the groundbreaking to celebrate this massive development for his district.

"People come to Northriver and one question I've heard for a long time is when will things be updated around here? What does the future look like? Well, you're seeing that today." Crow said. "It's exciting, I'm proud of what Andy and this team have put together and glad the city of Tuscaloosa has been able to support this because long-term, I think this is a really great use of the best asset this city has, which is that Lake."

The remaining condos are being listed by a team of real estate agents including Wes York and Donna Petty of Hamner Real Estate, Tommy Ford of Space Management, and Alice Maxwell and John Randall of Keller Williams.
