Frozen Tide Fundraiser
The Frozen Tide is set to return, with Alabama Hockey playing its first game of the season on Sept. 6. It's a big opponent, the Auburn Tigers, with the Iron Bowl of Hockey beginning the season.
Mike Fairbanks is the head coach of Alabama Hockey and is entering his first full season as the Crimson Tide head coach.
The Crimson Tide's Hockey team is entering its 19th season as a program, with an overall record of 272-242-0-1 (Wins-Losses-OT Losses-Ties).
Per a press release, Alabama Hockey was founded in 2005 by University of Alabama students. They began at the AHCA D3 level and were a founding member of the Southeast College Hockey Conference (SECHC). They were promoted to the D1 level in 2015. Alabama Hockey plays its home games at the Pelham Civic Complex.
The team is a student-run club sport, meaning it is not an NCAA sport - and doesn't receive money via the NCAA.
The Frozen Tide has launched a fundraising campaign. The team is campaigning to raise $50,000 before the start of its season.
"With your support, we can continue to provide the Alabama community with a competitive collegiate hockey program. Your donation will allow us to expand the accessibility of the club to more students and help grow the sport of hockey in Alabama and the southeast. Alabama Hockey is extremely grateful for the donations and support from our devoted Frozen Tide friends, family, and alumni nationwide!”
Remember the "Cold Summer" recruiting pitch used by Alabama football this cycle? It was in collaboration with the Alabama Hockey team. After a successful collaboration that allowed Alabama Football to sit as the No. 2 recruiting class in the country at the time of publication according to composite, Alabama Hockey is embarking on a 38-game schedule that consists of 20 home games and 18 road games.
