A former Alabama basketball star was arrested late Saturday night, according to reports.

John Petty, a member of Alabama men's basketball from 2017 to 2021, was arrested on four different counts, including DUI and Attempting to elude a police officer in Madison County, Alabama according to Drew Pavan of WVUA 23.

Petty was released earlier on Sunday, according to the report.

During his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Petty started 105 games and averaged 11.7 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, and 2.0 assists per game.

Petty was a member of the Crimson Tide team that won both the SEC regular season and the SEC tournament in 2021, and made an appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2021 before losing to UCLA in the Sweet 16.

Petty was an undrafted free agent in 2021 but signed with the New Orleans Pelicans after the draft. He is currently with the Birmingham Squadron as an affiliate player of the G-League team.
