TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama men's basketball guard Aden Holloway was indicted on both drug charges that he faces, according to court documents. Holloway, 21, was arrested in March on first-degree possession of marijuana, which is a felony in Alabama. He was also charged with failing to affix a tax stamp, a second felony.

Police found just over two pounds of marijuana at Holloway's residence in a search on Monday, March 16, according to court documents. He was suspended from the men's basketball roster and removed from campus following his arrest, pending a hearing with the UA Office of Student Conduct. It is currently unclear if a hearing has happened or what the result of the hearing may have been.

Holloway was one of the Crimson Tide's top guards last season and Alabama's second-leading scorer, averaging 16.8 points per game. He started 27 games and appeared in 28 for Alabama as a junior, shooting 48.1% from the floor and 43.8% from three-point range.

Holloway's indictment is essentially a formal written accusation issued by a grand jury, charging a person with a serious crime or felony. The indictment signals that there is enough evidence to proceed to a trial. He originally had a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 14, but that has since been canceled due to the indictment.

The 2.1 pounds of marijuana found at Holloway's residence is just under the trafficking threshold of 2.2 pounds. During the search, authorities also said they found packaging materials, paraphernalia, and cash, and allowed agents to search his phone, which they claimed showed evidence of drug transactions.
