ACA Throttles Lee-Scott Academy 58-21; Improves to 6-0
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The undefeated ACA Patriots welcomed the winless Lee-Scott Academy Warriors from Auburn (a subset of the Iron Bowl, if you will) to Danny-Logan Field Friday evening and delivered a dominant 58-21 homecoming victory.
In his first game back from injury, ACA quarterback Drew Jackson found much success, but not on his first pass, landing in the hands of a Warriors defender to set Lee-Scott up nicely in their own territory.
However, Lee-Scott couldn't capitalize, missing a 37-yard field goal.
Setting up on their own 20-yard line, ACA marched down to the goal line, where Jackson sneaked it in to draw first blood and take a 7-0 lead.
The ensuing kickoff, Lee-Scott hit on a big return to set themselves up inside the ten-yard line. The Warriors took advantage, tying up the ballgame at seven-a-piece as quarterback Logan Wilson found wideout Preston Hugeley in the front corner of the end zone for the score.
ACA began to take the reins, taking a two-score lead after back-to-back touchdown drives: a BJ Garth rushing score and a Logan Morris receiving touchdown, to take a 20-7 lead.
ACA continued to handle the Warriors with ease, entering halftime up 44-7.
After a brief pause due to a light at Danny-Logan Field, both sides tacked on two more touchdowns to close it out as ACA walked away with another victory.
ACA is set to welcome Madison Academy to Veterans Memorial Parkway next Friday.
