Friends of Hurricane Creek Hosting Annual Fundraiser at Tuscaloosa Brewery Tonight
A nonprofit that advocates for Tuscaloosa's stunning Hurricane Creek will host its annual meeting and fundraiser tonight at Druid City Brewing Company.
The Friends of Hurricane Creek promote the protection and rehabilitation of the 30-mile-long creek, a tributary of the Black Warrior River. Although once heavily polluted with trash, tires, and even runoff from mining operations, the creek is now a thriving, biologically diverse ecosystem unlike any other in the area.

The Tuesday night fundraiser will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Druid City Brewing Company at 700 14th Street in Tuscaloosa and will feature a silent auction with items from more than a dozen local artists and businesses.
DCBC will offer a BBQ sandwich from their Ell's Kitchen and beer in exchange for a $20 donation to the nonprofit.
Attendees can learn about Hurricane Creek and its history, its impressive biodiversity, and the conservation projects the Friends have underway or planned.
You can also sign up for the Annual Clean-Up on April 25th, during which volunteers on land will gather litter at and near Hurricane Creek Park while canoeists and kayakers paddle for a few miles and pull trash from the water.
