Hillcrest Student’s Legacy Lives On At Classmates’ Honors Day
The Hillcrest High school class of 2023 will soon celebrate the major accomplishment of walking across the stage to receive their high school diploma.
Sadly, Cameron Prince will not get to physically take that walk with his classmates.
Cameron Prince passed away on November 18th, 2021 after surgery complications. He had been diagnosed with a heart condition at 7 years old.
The Cameron Tyler Prince Legacy Foundation, Inc. was launched on Cameron Prince's birthday, January 3, 2023.
The foundation aims to support and share heart disease awareness, provide educational support, donate to charitable causes, and serve the community with acts of kindness. As part of the foundation’s mission, they aim to provide annual educational support to graduating Seniors of Hillcrest High School.
The Cameron Tyler Prince Legacy Foundation awarded three Hillcrest graduating seniors with $1000 scholarships to help with financial support for tuition, books, school supplies, and meal plans.
"It was another reality moment that our son, our baby boy and boss of the family was not walking with his, Class of 2023 but was an Angel in Heaven," said Tammy Prince, Cameron's Mother.
Three students were awarded the Love, Light and Legacy Scholarship.

When speaking about how it felt to be able to award her son's classmates with scholarships, Tammy Prince described the emotions in the room during Hillcrest's Senior Honors Day.
"A sense of gratitude, to know Cameron has left such a legacy that demonstrated love and light. To see tears from students, best friends, faculty and even parents was a moment of gratitude to know we had an Angel on earth with us for 16 years and now our Angel is watching over us. Still mix emotions but I am learning to take one day at time…. Cameron LOVED hard and we plan to keep his legacy alive by loving others as God loves us. Cameron’s favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13. The Cameron Tyler Prince Legacy Foundation is based on Love, Light and Legacy."
The Love, Light and Legacy Scholarship will be awarded annually in Tuscaloosa.
