Hay Court Shooting Victim Dies, Marking Fourth Homicide Since Friday in Tuscaloosa County
One person is dead following a shooting at Hay Court Apartments earlier Tuesday afternoon.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, alerted local media at 1:30 p.m. that his agency was called to take over the investigation of a shooting in Hay Court that took place around 12:45.
Trevoris Sheppard, age 28, was found in critical condition having been shot. He was transported to DCH for treatment where they performed life saving efforts.
Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the VCU updated media Tuesday night that Sheppard died at DCH due to his injuries.
This is the fourth homicide in Tuscaloosa since Friday, including:
- The Friday night shooting of 13-year-old Kei'lan Allen. Three suspects have been placed in custody and charged with Capital Murder.
- The Friday night infanticide of a woman's six-month-old grandchild. Charlotte Simpson, 46, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
- And most recently, Tuesday night killing as a result of exchanged gunfire between two vehicles. At least one is dead and one is injured. That story is still developing.
Kennedy said the Hay Court investigation is still active. This story will be updated as more information is made available.
