Garbage Fire Leads to Trash Dump By East Tuscaloosa County Lake

Smoldering garbage that ignited and threatened a collection truck was dumped by a lake in eastern Tuscaloosa County Tuesday morning, creating a soggy mess for crews to clean up.

Residents took to Facebook to talk and learn about the incident, which involved the near-full load of a Waste Management trash collection truck catching fire in the bin.

To save the truck, the driver dumped their entire load of trash near a boat launch on Ski Lake, a 107-acre recreational body of water near the town of Lake View.

Residents on social media estimated the trash was dumped in a pile that was around 10 feet tall and 25 feet long.
