Frigid Start to Alabama’s First Day of Meteorological Winter
Today is the first day of the meteorological winter. For many Alabamians, yesterday was the first time they turned on the heat in their homes. The temperature shift was a tad bit shocking to some.
Don’t let the sunshine today fool you. It will be cold. We had a sub-freezing start on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. For West Alabama, you can expect a high near 49 degrees with plenty of sunshine. Also, there is a west wind of 5 to 10 mph.
We woke up to some frigid temperatures. The National Weather Service Birmingham share with us how temperatures were looking in some cities in Alabama as we started our Tuesday:

Gadsden: 25°
Birmingham: 26°
Tuscaloosa: 27°
Montgomery: 28°
Troy: 28°
Tonight might be colder than last night. Potential lows will be around 24-26 degrees. Also, you can expect mostly clear skies with calm winds.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 56. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph after midnight.
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.
Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56.
