The family of a 38-year-old Cottondale man is asking for answers after he disappeared during a trip home last month.

In a Facebook post shared Saturday evening, a woman asked for help finding Jeremy Charles Smith, who was been missing since July 26th.

According to the post, Smith texted his mother on July 24th to say he had gotten a bus ticket from New York to Tuscaloosa and was coming home.

Two days later, he reportedly reached out to say he was in Birmingham and would reach out to her when he arrived in Tuscaloosa later that day.

Smith has allegedly not been heard from since that text message was sent.

Now, his mother is reportedly dealing with health problems and is more desperate than ever to reach her son.

Anyone who has seen Smith or can connect him with his mother Jennifer Smelser is urged to contact her at smelserj@yahoo.com.
