The City of Tuscaloosa will soon require face masks within its municipal courthouse.

Beginning Wednesday, September 1, anyone who enters the Tuscaloosa Municipal Courthouse must wear a face covering. Those who do not have a mask at the time of entry will be provided one for free.

The decision was announced Thursday, almost a week after citizens began a petition urging Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and the Tuscaloosa City Council to enact a city-wide mask mandate.

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.
