Druid City Dames to Host First Home Bout Since 2019 Next Weekend
Tuscaloosa's premiere roller derby league, Druid City Dames, is hosting its first bout since the COVID-19 pandemic on July 23 at Super Skate in Tuscaloosa.
According to a release from the local organization, the bout is the league's only home game, with two other bouts scheduled this season.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the bout will begin immediately after and is expected to end around 7 p.m.
Tickets are currently on sale for $10 plus a $.75 cent fee, which can be purchased in advance at https://druid-city-derby.square.site. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $13 and children 12 and under are free to attend.
All proceeds from the event will be used to benefit Druid City Derby, the team’s Tuscaloosa-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which was formed in July 2015 to provide education, training, and fitness activities to children and adults with interest in playing roller derby.
The Black Warrior Brewing Company will host a post-bout after party from 7:15 p.m. until 11 p.m. and will donate one dollar for every pint sold to the derby league.
