
19-Year-Old Dies at Hospital After Drowning in Tuscaloosa’s Hurricane Creek
UPDATE: A 19-year-old who drowned in Tuscaloosa's Hurricane Creek Monday died in the hospital Tuesday, police report.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told the Thread Tuesday morning that a large police presence responded to the creek Monday evening after callers reported an emergency there.

Sellers said a 19-year-old Guatemalan female in the creek and was kept alive thanks to two other teenagers who got her out of the water - police report two Latino males who are also reportedly teenagers but were unknown and unrelated to the victim were able to get her out of the creek's waters.
Captain Sellers said the rescuers performed CPR on the drowned girl and she was alive when she was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center but died Tuesday.
Other police sources said the teenager was born in 2004 and lived in Northport.
