One of Tuscaloosa's newest restaurants is expanding its offerings and adding a lunch buffet so patrons can try dishes from cultures around the world with an Indian touch.

As previously reported, Mike Patel opened the Curry Kitchen in the former O'Charley's on McFarland Boulevard near I-20 in late September.

After a few months of feedback from a growing customer base, Patel invited the Thread back to the restaurant this week to announce plans to launch a new lunch buffet there later this month.

"People had a lot of queries and requests, and we've found they want to try multiple dishes in a single lunch," Patel said. "So we've decided to have a buffet for lunch especially and return to the ala carte menu for dinner each night."

Kumar Prabhakar, who works with Patel at the restaurant, said it will feature dishes from across the globe.

"Of course, there is going to be Indian, but we are going to mix in some of everything. The dishes will change daily, there will be Indo-Chinese with an Indian touch, even some Italian, like bolognese and pastas. There's going to be a make-your-own salad, soups, main courses, desserts," he said. "It's basically a fusion buffet and we want to give people many different varieties of dishes with an Indian touch."

The buffet is set to launch on Thursday, February 26th and will return every day from 11 until 2:30. The weekday price will be around $18, and weekends will be a few dollars more.

"At this buffet, you're going to have a lot of options. Give it a shot, try different things," Patel said. "We're glad to be in the Tuscaloosa community and we hope you'll give it a shot. We have never let you down and we ain't gonna let you down with this."

Patel said the Curry Kitchen has also recently added online ordering, where customers can often find discounts, and that they are finalizing their liquor license and will soon add alcoholic beverages to the menu.
