Northport’s Cookie Plug Announces Its Bittersweet Closing Date
Perhaps it is a sign of today's economic realities or an indication of the difficulties that face highly specialized businesses, but the Cookie Plug is unplugging its store in Northport next week.

"We are saddened to share that Cookie Plug will be closing on December 17th," the company wrote in a Facebook post. It has been an amazing ride! From our very first cookie to our last, we've enjoyed serving our customers and being part of this community. We’re so thankful to everyone who supported us, shared a laugh, or just stopped by for a treat. While it’s tough to close this chapter, we leave with full hearts and many great memories. Thank you for being part of our journey — we truly appreciate you!"
Located at 1425 McFarland Blvd. North, the state's first Cookie Plug opened in August of last year in a building shared with Tropical Smoothie Cafe. It is on the property of the former Chongwah Chinese restaurant.
Launched in California a few years ago, the fast-growing brand marries hip-hop culture, street-art aesthetics and decadent treats that are "part cookie, part cake, part brownie."
The company describes its menu as consisting, "...of our bomb sugar cookie recipe, Pixie Junkie, and our smores cookie recipe, Firecracker. We even have the dopest keto cookie recipes the streets have ever seen."
For those who want to continue the Cookie Plug treats, there is now a store in Hoover at 5858 Elsie Road.
