Connie Ruth Christian Smith (February 21st, 1945 – January 24th, 2022)

Connie Ruth Christian Smith, age 76, formerly of Greensboro, Alabama passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Hospice of West Alabama.

She is survived by her four children Merri Ruth Hollingsworth (David), Jay Smith, Donna Shipley (Lewis), and Jennifer Waddell (Blake).

She is also survived by her grandchildren Candi Webster (Chris), Brandon Shipley (Heather), Casey Naylor (Hunter Thomas), Cameron Shipley (Holly), Haven Townsend, Hudson Smith, six great-grandchildren, and her sisters Martha Jean Phillips, Karla Christian Cole, Joyce Christian, and Edwina Crawford.

Preceding her in death were her parents Edward Christian, Louise Christian, and her brother James Madison.

Connie lived most of her adult life in the Bucksnort Community of Hale County and worked in the retail business in Greensboro and Tuscaloosa. Over the years she enjoyed raising a summer garden, playing softball, singing, and dancing. To know Connie Ruth was to love her. She will forever be remembered and missed by her family.

Graveside services will be held at New Haven Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 am with Brother Bryant Rylee officiating. Pallbearers are Brandon Shipley, Cameron Shipley, Hunter Thomas, Chris Webster, Brian Harvell, and Blake Waddell.

The family would like to acknowledge the great care and love given by Heritage Healthcare and Rehab, DCH ER and ICU staff, and Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in her name to Hospice of West Alabama.
