Friends and family are still seeking answers about the death of Kendrell Watkins. Watkins died at DCH Northport in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 15th. TPD officers tased Watkins after he became uncooperative during an arrest. Watkins was observed behaving erratically before his arrest, reportedly jumping into a fountain and running through traffic.

The TPD Officers involved in the arrest were placed on administrative leave, and the Tuscaloosa Police Department released bodycam footage of the arrest; however, a local group is still seeking more information about the events that led to his death.

'Justice for Kendrell' is asking the Tuscaloosa Police Department to release the full, unedited footage of Watkins' interaction with officers as well as demanding the City of Tuscaloosa and Mayor Walt Maddox address the TPD's use of force and offer increased mental health training to TPD officers.

The 'Justice for Kendrell' vigil will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, October 24th, at Central High School in Tuscaloosa.
