A popular annual chili cookoff will return to a downtown Tuscaloosa brewery to raise money for an area nonprofit and keep bellies warm on one of the coldest days of winter.

The Black Warrior Brewing Co. Chili Cook-Off was first held in 2015 as a fundraiser for Tuscaloosa's One Place, a resource center that addresses critical family needs in the community.

Every year since, all proceeds from the cookoff have directly benefited TOP and its programs to strengthen families and prevent child abuse.

The Cook-Off returns to the brewery on University Boulevard in downtown Tuscaloosa this Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to 7:30. Registering your own chili for the competition is $20, and a pass to taste all entries and cast votes is only $10. All proceeds benefit Tuscaloosa's One Place.

Looking at the weekend forecast on Wednesday, a few bowls full of chili may be just what the weather calls for. As of today, meteorologists do not expect temperatures in Tuscaloosa to ever climb above freezing on Saturday, with highs below 30 and lows around 17 degrees.

Visit the brewery at 2216 University Boulevard in downtown Tuscaloosa or call them at 205-248-7841 to learn more and register if you've got a recipe you want to show off.

On a frigid Saturday night, swing by from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for good chili and good beer while supporting a great cause.
