Brian Robinson Jr. Selected 98th Overall by Washington Commanders
Tuscaloosa native Brian Robinson Jr. has been selected with the 98th pick in the third round by the Washington Commanders. The two-time college football playoff national champion running back is the sixth running back to be taken, coming off the board behind the likes of Breece Hall, Kenneth Walker and James Cook.

Robinson spent five years with the Crimson Tide football program and waited patiently to get his chance to be the feature back. After being used sparingly in the 2017 CFP National Championship campaign, Robinson became a regular part of the running back rotation in Tuscaloosa. He saw an average of 83 snaps a season from his sophomore to senior season while supporting the likes of Najee Harris and Josh Jacobs.
Robinson returned to the Capstone for his extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the feature back, Robinson carried the ball 271 times for 1,343 yards, averaging five yards per carry. Robinson’s consistent dependability helped keep opposing defenses honest about playing the run and was a key factor in Bryce Young’s Heisman trophy winning performance last year.
In Washington, Robinson joins fellow Alabama alumni Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne and Phidarian Mathis, who was selected earlier in the second round.
Robinson is the sixth Alabama player to be selected so far in the 2022 NFL Draft.
