Brenda Noland McComb (January 30th, 1947 – December 19th, 2025)

Brenda Noland McComb, 78, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Born on January 30, 1947, in Reform, Alabama, Brenda’s life was one of service, love, and unwavering dedication to her family, faith, and community.

Brenda was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning her degree from Mississippi University for Women. It was there that she met the love of her life, Joseph McComb, while he was stationed at Columbus Air Force Base. Their bond grew into a marriage that spanned 58 years—a partnership marked by deep affection and mutual support.

Early in their marriage, Brenda and Joe lived in Guam where she worked as a teacher. Upon returning to the United States, they settled in Tuscaloosa and became active members of the community. Brenda’s professional journey led her to become a pillar in Alabama’s disability advocacy network. She served as a vital member of the Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program (ADAP) at the University of Alabama and held significant roles within the Alabama Department of Mental Health and special needs services. Her work transformed lives across the state and set a standard for excellence in vocational rehabilitation and supported employment.

In recognition of her extraordinary contributions, the Alabama Association for Persons in Supported Employment (AL-APSE) established the "Brenda McComb Leadership Award" to honor individuals who embody her spirit of dedication and professional achievement.

Brenda’s commitment to service extended beyond her career. A devoted member of Northport Baptist Church, she led Sunday school classes, sang in the choir, and participated in mission trips to Cuba with Joe—sharing both their faith and their love of baseball. Volunteering was not just something Brenda did; it was a reflection of her Christian walk and a cornerstone of her life.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—tending to her garden with care, losing herself in books during beachside retreats, and cheering on Alabama sports teams. Yet nothing brought her more happiness than supporting her children and grandchildren. Brenda spent countless hours traveling to baseball games, swim meets, soccer matches, football games, and dance recitals—always present with encouragement and pride.

Brenda is survived by her beloved husband Joseph McComb; their four children: Matthew McComb (married to Ginger), Lee McComb, Michael McComb (married to Jennifer), and Heather McComb; and seven cherished grandchildren: Meg Catherine McComb, Cade McComb, Preston McComb, Rhoda Lee McComb, Hudson McComb, Noland McComb, and Vander McComb. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary Francis Noland.

Those who knew Brenda will remember her radiant smile that could light up any room and the fierce love she shared with Joe—her constant companion and devoted caregiver throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched professionally and personally.
