Blood Drive Aims to Combat Critical Blood Shortage in Tuscaloosa Area
LifeSouth is partnering with Jann's Pharmacy to host a blood drive this Friday to increase the blood supply in the Tuscaloosa area amid a dangerous shortage.
Jann Side, owner and pharmacy manager of Jann's Pharmacy, said the blood supply in our area is "critically low" and that she hopes the partnership will see a great community response to save the lives of those in need of blood donations.
Donors must be 17 years or older to participate. Those who are 16 years old can donate with parental consent. Participants will receive a $10 gift from LifeSouth in exchange for the donation, Side said.
LifeSouth's bloodmobile will arrive at the pharmacy at 11 a.m. Friday morning and the drive will continue until 6 p.m.
Jann's Pharmacy is located at 1825 McFarland Boulevard North across the street from the Winn Dixie grocery store on Watermelon Road.
