Combined $100,000 Offered For Info on Birmingham Mass Shooting
Federal and local crimefighting agencies are offering a staggering combined $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing four people and injuring 17 more in a mass shooting in Birmingham Saturday night.
As outlets across the globe have reported, more than 100 shots rang out in a matter of seconds outside the Hush Lounge in Birmingham's Five Points entertainment district Saturday night.
The indiscriminate violence killed four people and injured 17 more, and as the investigation into the shooting unfolds, police now believe the shooting was a targeted "hit" of at least one of the victims - police confirmed Monday that two of the men killed Saturday night had previously been accused of murder.
The others who were injured when bullets were sprayed into the crowd seem to have been collateral damage.
Now, the FBI is offering $50,000 for the arrest and conviction of the shooters involved.
"The FBI's Birmingham Field Office is assisting the Birmingham Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in the ongoing investigation of a mass shooting that occurred on September 21, 2024, along the 2200 block of Magnolia Avenue South in Birmingham, Alabama," the FBI said in a bulletin. "Over 100 rounds were fired into a crowded entertainment district. Investigators believe more than one person fired into the crowd. Four people died of gunshot wounds and 17 others were injured. Law Enforcement officials are seeking the public's assistance in identifying those responsible."
The FBI's toll-free tipline is 1-800-CALL-FBI. You can also submit tips at tips.fbi.gov.
In addition to the federal reward being offered, the Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama are also offering $50,000 "for information leading to solving this crime."
"We need you to come forward if you have information that would lead to an arrest in this case. You will remain anonymous," their posting said.
Anyone with details about this senseless violence can reach Crimestoppers at 205-254-7777.
