The Original Hot Dog Factory will be coming soon to Alberta City.

This will be the second restaurant in Alabama, with a current location in Birmingham. Tuscaloosa City Councilman Kip Tyner announced the news on his Facebook page on last week.

Tyner shared his excitement about the approaching Hot Dog Factory with the Tuscaloosa Thread, while also providing insight on its new location in Alberta.

According to Tyner, the Atlanta-based restaurant will be adjoining a brand-new Chevron gas station in Alberta. The gas station is one of several other projects in development for Alberta and East Tuscaloosa.

"For one, it's new to the market. There's only one other [Hot Dog Factory] in the state of Alabama and the other nearest one is in Atlanta," Tyner said. "Their menu is just wonderful. They've got a much larger variety than I ever thought."

In the early stages of planning the Chevron's arrival, developers initially wanted a Checkers Drive-In to be placed adjacent to the gas station. However, decisions were eventually made to go with the Hot Dog Factory instead.

"I'm actually very happy that it worked out this way because we don't have a hot dog store in Tuscaloosa and I think it will bring something very unique with a lot of variety," Tyner said. "I think people will come out from all across the city."

The first Hot Dog Factory restaurant opened in Smyrna, Georgia in 2010. The chain serves an assortment of hot dogs including beef, turkey, chicken, plant-based alternatives and more. The restaurant also serves various other dishes like burgers, wings and factory fries.
