Arch Manning, the 5-star quarterback from New Orleans living up to his namesake, has set the date for his unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa. Manning will be in attendance when the Crimson Tide hosts the Ole Miss Rebels on October 2, according to 247Sports.

Alabama has had Manning on the radar for some time now as the young signal-caller awaits the 2023 signing period. Manning took an unofficial visit to T-Town in June after the COVID-19 protocols for recruiting were lifted to take part in a camp and spent extensive time with head coach Nick Saban, quarterback Bryce Young and offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien.

Alabama is just one of many suitors chasing the 6-foot-4, 215lbs sophomore at Isidore Newman High School. Georgia and Clemson are heavy in the mix, but LSU, Texas and Ole Miss are notable programs hoping to wow the latest Manning quarterback. Alabama's recruiting pitches speak for themselves though and Manning respects what the Crimson Tide have to offer.

“It’s just a machine,” Manning told 247Sports. “Saban he runs a great program and there’s really no loopholes in that, no cutting corners which was amazing.

“I’d love to be in a program like that, that organized with coach Saban, that would be a dream come true.”

The opponent for Alabama during Manning's visit isn't an accident. Lane Kiffin and the Rebels intend to use Manning's family ties to the university (grandfather Archie and uncle Eli are both alumni) and close with Kiffin's offensive prowess as a play-caller and development of current quarterback and NFL prospect Matt Corral.

“Oxford is amazing,” Manning said. “Coach (Jeff) Lebby and coach Kiffin are some of the smartest offensive minds I’ve ever met. I met with coach Kiffin it seems like four hours and he blew me away with his knowledge and they’re going to put up some points this year and I’m excited to watch them.”

Manning told 247Sports he'll likely make his initial commitment sometime during the Spring or Summer of 2022, but admits it's "hard to tell."

Manning is the top player in the 2023 class and is considered a "High Choice" for the Crimson Tide according to 247Sports. Alabama has a commitment from Ty Simpson, a 4-star quarterback from Martin, Tennessee, in the 2022 class, a potential signing that could impact Manning's decision next year.
