ALDOT to Perform Nighttime Inspections of “Arch Bridge” Over Tuscaloosa This Weekend
The Alabama Department of Transportation will be in Tuscaloosa this weekend to perform routine inspections of the interstate "Arch Bridge" over McFarland Boulevard, which will cause some overnight lane closures.
John McWilliams, an ALDOT spokesman in West Alabama, said crews will begin inspecting the Interstate 20/50 Arch Bridge just past Exit 73 this Friday and continue work through the weekend.
To minimize impacts on local traffic, McWilliams said the work will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday and should be wrapped up by 5 a.m. the following morning.
The project should be wrapped up by Monday morning, he said.
The crews will only be working nighttime weekend shifts, but their inspections will require intermittent lane closures on McFarland Boulevard under the bridge during those hours. No interstate lane closures are expected.
"Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to take alternate routes during this period," McWilliams said.
