Alabama Walk-on, Tuscaloosa Native, Enters Transfer Portal
Alabama Crimson Tide redshirt senior Joshua Lanier has decided to enter the transfer portal according to BamaOnline's Charlie Potter. Lanier, a Tuscaloosa native and Tuscaloosa Academy graduate, played in seven games last season. All of Lanier's work has come on special teams, he did not see the field in 2019.
Lanier walked-on with the Crimson Tide after spending time playing football at North Alabama. He played for one season with the Lions in 2016 before returning to Tuscaloosa and walking onto the football team. In his freshman year he caught two passes for 12 yards.
Lanier did see some offensive snaps in this past season's A-Day Game, he recorded two receptions for 10 yards with his longest catch going for nine yards.
At Tuscaloosa Academy he played quarterback, receiver, running back, cornerback and safety while also returning punts and kicks.
The 5-foot-11, 160 pound athlete will now transfer to take advantage of the additional year of eligibility given to him due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
